The Knights had moved there from Staithes in Yorkshire to be close to the Newlyn School of artists and other painters who worked in the area. In Cornwall , the Knights befriendedĀ the painter Samuel John Birch and his family,who lived in Lamorna . Birch was known locally as Lamorna Birch.
